The Parish Safeguarding Representative has special responsibility for promoting
good and safe practices in all activities involving
children, young people and adults at risk. They work
closely with the parish priest and liaise with the
diocesan safeguarding team.
Key Responsibilities
•
Promoting Safeguarding Awareness - Acting as the First Point of Contact
•
Being the person parishioners can approach with concerns about a child, young
person, or adult at risk.
•
Passing concerns or allegations to the diocesan safeguarding office, who then
liaise with statutory agencies.
Safer Recruitment & DBS Checks
•
Supporting the safe recruitment of volunteers
•
Facilitating DBS checks for those working with vulnerable groups.
•
Ensuring everyone who needs a DBS check completes the process.
Liaising with the Diocese
•
Maintaining regular communication with the diocesan safeguarding team.
Supporting Parish Life
•
Understanding parish activities to identify safeguarding needs.
•
Helping parish groups adopt safe practices.

support which is available from the Parish and the Safeguarding teams.

protect the safety and welfare of everyone in our Parish.
